Heavy Metal monk Capuchin Friar Cesare Bonizzi!! RAWK ON!!!!
by Lady Zombie inplease tell me there are some other metal fans in here besides me!
some of you mentioned receiving flack from the elders because you listen to rap, but surely there has got to be some other rock n' roll and metal fans in here.
i still remember the flack i got for listening to 80's music, classic rock n' roll (loved jethro tull, doors, pink floyd, and so on), and worst of all.....heavy metal!

Singer Songwriters who should be household names....
by hillary_step inover the decades musicians rise and fall like a spring wind.
some stay where they should never be, some never are where they should be; such is the roulette of time.
this thread is dedicated to singer songwriters who influence the rest of the best, but are seldom known - 'gamblers in the neon, clinging to guitars...' .

Hey Amicus,
Check out some of Peter Green's solo stuff cos its brilliant. 2 albums spring to mind, one is 'Blue Guitar' and the other is 'In the Skies'. Brill track on both called 'Fool no More'.You can get them off Amazon or Play.com or even e bay.
Another really good songwriter is Barry Mani..................................................................................AARRGGHHH!!
Sorry, momentary lapse of reason there!! But try Andy Fairweather Lowe or Paul Carrack, both excellent singer/songwriters.

This Bro is brilliant, and his comments at the end are just right......Music like this keeps you young and is like dby such a wide crowd. I went to see Blaxck Stone Cherry,Whitesnake and Def leppard recently and there was peeps older than me aswell as kids that looked about 8!! Made me smile, saw 2 kids walking along the corridors maybe aged about 12 with tee shirts on that nearly covered them from head to toe.
I had trouble with music in the 70's,Some of you in the US may not have heard of Cozy Powell the magnificent rock drummer, his 1st single was called 'Dance with the devil' and was a drum solo...no lyrics! What a stink that caused.....its debasing music and you should only listen to kingdom melodies were 2 comments. Bollocks! I kept the single and still have it today along with most of his other stuff.
My first 'rock' gig was going to see Godspell, with fellow witnesses, when I was about 12 or 13. I can still remember the high just from hearing loud guitars and drums, and I still get that feeling today everytime I hear good old honest rock!!
Rock on good people!

I live in Wales in some really spectacular scenery. We have a victorian spa town near us with some semi decent hotels or there is plenty of pubs that do cheap(in money terms)bed and breakfast, then you can enjoy proper british ale,not that watered down fizzy pop you have over there!!!
Aberystwyth is a good seaside resort which includes one of the great little trains of Wales, narrow gauge steam railways which show you the country side without having to concentrate on driving.
York has been mentioned, and is well worth a visit. It dates way back even beyond viking times and in my opinion is a better city to see than London, which is too crowded and smelly.
But I am sure you will enjoy your visit over here,we are a friendly lot,and if you come to Wales anywhere near us then I will buy you one of the aforementioned pints!!

poll/ survey on what you "were" (rank in your hall)
by burningbridges ini wasjust really curious to see what the average of everyone's "history" is here, and also how many "higer ups" we have that have abandoned the ways.
so what were you, an elder?
a pioneer?

MS for 3 years or so,handled 2nd school, gave public talks and organized talks with other congs. It was only a small cong. Narrowly missed out on being an elder when moved away.Skin of my teeth there!!!
The elders were always talking about those who had funny little quirks in the cong, especially sisters, which I didn't like.So I went out of my way to try to make these feel welcome and wanted........even the one that smelled!!.........Badly!!!! There was some nice people in that hall, pity none of them were elders.
